On Thursday, 9th January 2020, Mod’Art International Paris – Sri Lanka Branch & Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology (LIFT) hosted the inspiring graduation ceremony for our fashion design students class of 2019 (Bachelor’s degree, Advanced Diploma and Diploma) at the BMICH, Colombo 7.
This festive and celebratory event brought graduates together with staff, families, and friends to honor their successes and hard work, providing an opportunity to thank those closest to them for their support, without which this journey would not have been possible.
The ceremony commenced with addresses from Ambassador Mr. Eric Lavertu, Embassy of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives, and Ms. Niroshani Leanage, Managing Director of Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology & Mod’Art International Sri Lanka both of whom praised the graduates on their determination, passion, and creativity, and offered words of advice and encouragement for the future.
Ambassador Mr. Eric Lavertu reminded students how proud they should be of themselves, as they had already achieved great things during their time at the College.
Ms. Niroshani Leanage had urged the graduates to be a light and a positive change in whatever industry they go into; to recognize their privileges and to listen and learn from others. She encouraged them to have conversations and hold people and themselves accountable to create a better world.
The convocation concluded with the awarding of certificates, and closing remarks from Mr. Bernard Lelarge, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Following his short speech and the end of the graduation ceremony, delighted graduates and their families continued celebrating with photographs & refreshments to mark the end of one journey and the beginning of another.
